University Cookery Day – what an experience!

We were so proud to support Saddleworth Cookery School for their special Getting Ready for University Cookery Day. It wasn’t just about cooking – it was about learning new skills, understanding budgets, and exploring how to make the best use of resources in the kitchen.‍🧑‍🍳🥦✨

Students explored:

🏫 The students made over 6 dishes which they were able to ‘take away’ which set them up for their first week at Uni.

🥣 Learning how to prepare eggs in a variety of styles – useful skills for both home and study life.

🍎 Building a flexible tomato sauce base, ready to transform into chilli, bolognese or lasagne.

🍫 And finally – they took home-weighed ingredients ready for Uni to cook delicious brownies, not just for themselves, but to serve and share with university students.

The whole day was full of creativity, teamwork and smiles. Everyone came away with new skills, practical knowledge, and plenty of inspiration for the future.

💚 Huge thanks to all who made the day possible – we can’t wait to see what’s next!

The Andrew Gidney Foundation allowed friends to come to the session together and share their experiences. We hope to support further skills days like this to upskill young people during the year, suitable for their return home during the holidays. Watch this space!
